Hours: 8am-3pm, Tue-Sun
Address: 36 Union Street
City/Town: Easthampton

My desire for contact and connection with people I know, and people I'm meant to meet inspired these black and white intimate portraits. In my bones, I am a traditional, analog photographer that for a time had to learn to see and create with the pixels of present day. I used either a 50mm 1.4 lens or 85mm 1.2 lens that allowed for a very close portrait and gorgeous depth of field. It's my hope that the return of traditional photographic media with these portraits also might kindle a return to more traditional street interactions.

Hours: 9am-4pm daily

"What do you paint?" people ask me. While my subject matter comes mostly from coastal Maine and the foothills of the Berkshires, these favorite places only provide the occasion, either en plein air or from photographs I have taken. I paint light - the moment, character, and effect of light. I do this with transparent watercolors, water-based pigments that allow ambient light to pass through and be reflected by the painted surface.

YOU, ME, HUMILITY AND PRIDE

Hours: 12-6pm M-Th, 5-8pm every 2nd Saturday
Address: 43 Main Street

Sullivan exhibits a collection of recent paintings - a pastiche of figures found in art history, pop culture, and the artist's imagination. The mash-up of images incorporated with abstract elements create a sense of traditional formal coherence between space, light, and color. Sullivan, formerly a minimalist abstract painter, experiments with a balance of the sometimes incongruous forms and colors until they work harmoniously.

Charged with mark and color, and evoking themes from classical mythology, these powerful images reveal emergent forms and compositions in a language of exploratory abstraction. Grounded in vivid materiality, they record the search not for specific objects, but for an emotional exactitude--a specificity of feeling in which features of light, landscape, weather, and organic form pulse as elements of urgent process. A presentation of the various visions and ideas that have been explored by the senior studio art majors throughout the semester via the act of making. Each student has dedicated countless hours, both in and out of the studio, to working on their craft and producing quality work with individual creative lenses. Among them are painters, printmakers, performers, thinkers, and all of the other adjectives and identities that make up a complex and passionate group of people.

Location Name: Wm Blizard Gallery, Springfield College
Hours: M-F 9-4pm
Address: 263 Alden Street
City/Town: Springfield
Website: www.springfieldcollege.edu

I work to create meditative depictions of manmade objects displaying their damage, the atmosphere as broken as the subject; at times the surface being indistinguishable from the object, as if it were slowly melting away or creeping forward in and out of existence. By pulling these objects upward, they are given a sense of the humanity that has touched them. They are caught in a defining moment of resistance. The paintings honor self-effacing objects and their ability to capture the human spirit.
