Play Me Not False

From sly deceit I evermore do shy,
The truth will always be what I have shown,
Because this heart doth truly never lie.

I have no taste for fraudulent devise
And trickster words I readily disown,
From sly deceit I evermore do shy.

Bite back the honeyed words in your reply,
For falseness always cuts me to the bone,
Because this heart doth truly never lie.

I have no calculation to apply,
Nor will I such a thing from you condone,
From sly deceit I evermore do shy.

There be no greater gift you could supply
Than truth spoke plain in honest forthright tone,
Because this heart doth truly never lie.

So make no pledge, no deathless love imply,
Unless your promises be writ in stone.
From sly deceit I evermore do shy,
Because this heart doth truly never lie.
